Now, I'm going to assume you all know the success that is Sid Meyer's Civilization. No? Go sit in the corner - now! It's only one of the biggest game series of all time, so get educated already. :-)

So, Freeciv is a Free and Open Source empire-building strategy game inspired by the history of human civilization. The game commences in prehistory and your mission is to lead your tribe from the stone age to the space age... Have we heard this before? Yes? Well Civilization was where the buzz started, and Freeciv is a most excellent clone of said game.
